Analytical Paragraph #2

Evaluate White Mike and Molly's relationship, is it just old friends or does Mike have feelings for Molly?

Mike and Molly Walking Back from Lunch
In Twelve, by Nick McDonnell, White Mike often takes time out of his day to meet up with an old friend, Molly. Mike shows that he has underlying feelings for Molly, even though Molly does not realize this and believes that it is fully a platonic relationship, even telling White Mike her boy troubles. White Mike really cares about what Molly thinks of him, even though he does not care  how he portrays himself to the rest of the world. He goes as far as never admitting he is a drug lord, and creates an elaborate story of how he works for his father to keep Molly innocent and believing he is a "good boy".  "How's working with our dad going? Glad you are taking the year off?"(108). Molly inquired.   Mike thinks that if Molly knew the truth of his life, she would never give him a chance . When asked about his love life Mike states that she is too good for him. Another sign of affection is White Mikes' protective words when Molly says she is interested in going to the party with Tobias, and then White Mike's ugly thoughts of Tobias show some underlying jealousy.  "Well what's the problem' Molly asked.  'I know the damn problem... The guy's a pothead. And an asshole"(109). Mike's many different expressions of love, from his careful reconstructing, to his protective care and jealousy, all show, that to him, Molly could be more then just a friend.
